Go for the beer, stay for the food. Both are excellent. The staff are very knowledgeable about what beer to drink if you’re not sure and will give you a small sample to try before you choose.

Pretty busy little place, clearly full of locals which is great. However, as a female I struggled to get served by the female bar staff who specifically chose to ignore me and serve local men instead. How very disappointing indeed. We stayed for one drink only even though we had liked the place 😳

Really great pub, how pubs should be. Buzzing with people from all ages. At least 6 real ales on hand pump, maybe more. Lots of wood in this old pub but not dated at all. They won pub of the year and that's not surprising. The very friendly landlady and barman were very industrious. Quick service with a smile and every spare moment running round and clearing tables and collecting glasses. Never stopped but were smiling and laughing the whole time. Never tried the food but going in tomorrow to try it. Our favourite pub in Harrogate. Update. Tried the sausage n mash. Spot on, possibly the best I've had. Wife was impressed as well.
