We eat regularly at Lussmanns Hitchin and we booked way in advance for friday 23th October , having taken a chance on what the the covid restrictions were going to be by then.
The restaurant was laid out well, the staff were great and welcoming , table for two by the window.
I had my favourite starter The hunters linguine , which i highly recommend. And the main steak dish was cooked well with lots of flavour.

Had an absolutely fantastic lunch today! Not only was the food delicious and cooked to perfection, the hygiene levels were spot on, the service from Norman and the rest Of the team was impeccable and although they followed all the government measures perfectly at no point did you feel uncomfortable or on edge. Thank you Norman and the team we will be back!

We took advantage of the eat late offer which was great- our food came really efficiently but we didn’t at any stage feel rushed, even with the curfew in the back of our mind.
Food was really tasty and well presented and our waiter was super friendly.
Would definitely go back again next time we are in town.

Having had to spend a lot of lockdown in isolation what better place to go to than Lussmanns (their Tring branch is already a firm favourite - pls open again soon!) for first night out.
I wasn’t disappointed while dining with friends in their Hitchin branch.
The place felt Covid safe - all dealt with in a sensible way.
Service was good, but food was brilliant! Wonderfully seasoned meat and fish, fantastic presentation. Just brilliant - all of it. Please pass my compliments to the chef!
It was the first night of the new early closing last Thursday and I thought that Lussmanns dealt with it really well. Can’t be easy for small businesses to deal with the current climate and the constantly changing rules - well done to the team here or making it go seamlessly.

Visited with friends for the first time. Excellently managed in the current climate. Noise absorbers didn't work well and loud co-diners made it difficult to hear each other at times. Fish and chips was pretty average, soggy batter, luke warm chips and tasteless tartare sauce. No offer of complimentary drink as advertised on website. Good service but not sure I'd rush back.

During these strange Covid-19 days eating out is challenging . Enjoyed very pleasant lunch from set menu. Decent portions . Had whitebait /sprats starter with steak & chips washed down with very palatable house white wine.

Thank goodness for the Eat out Help out scheme, we found the food had a bland taste and not up to the prices being charged. A number of us could not taste some of the key ingredients in ours and each others meals.
Be careful when reading the menu as meals come with limited vegetables etc. you may need to add side order for what you would expect to find on the plate as part of a main course.

Very decent food. But pricey imho. With Eat out to take out it becomes a better deal. Still coming to terms with British dining - but this is definitely a decent spot. Just not super value.

On arrival we were created by friendly staff who clearly explained the COVID-19 set up. We were seated well away from other diners and felt very safe the whole time. The food was great, a lot was locally sourced including some local gin. The staff were very attentive. A really great experience.

We have pre-ordered many dishes from the Lussmanns Food To Go menu over the last 3 months and the quality for takeaway food is outstanding. So much choice, last week we particularly enjoyed the pork stroganoff, generous portions and very tasty.

We've had three takeaway meals from Lussmans and the food is exceptionally good and prices very reasonable. The quality of ingredients and presentation are excellent. Food has to be pre ordered and collected on Saturday mornings. Dishes are packed in ovenproof containers, ready to be cooked at home.

If you ever wished to have Take Away Food of very high quality, fresh and perfectly balanced seasoning, look no further.
If you wanted Take Away Food of the same high standard normally served in a Restaurant, then look no further.
Lussmanns is the very best you ever wished for.
A perfect menu selection with abundant portions.
What makes Lussmanns extra special is that you do not have to worry about it getting cold before you get it, as it is served uncooked and you cook it at home. Fresh food prepared to very high standard and it comes with easy cooking instructions.
Twice we had Lussmanns Take Away for virtual dinners with family and friends and each time the conversation was taken over talking about the excellent quality of the food and the excellent value.
Whether it Sea Bass, Tuna, Chicken or Beef dishes, between us we have tried them all and all said how nice it was; the problem we are faced is what dish to choose when we order our next Lussmanns Take Away

I had read some reviews and done some research if I really wanted to visit, but I was tad confused by mixed reviews. So, I decided to go ahead and try this place.
They had only one serving of fish n chips left on Friday (I thought 'Fish Fridays' were famous!)
Despite confusion, we ordered fish n chips and for second dish we ordered some chicken and pasta dish (sorry, I can't remember the name.)
The drinks had common names like draught beer and bloody Mary but they weren't up to the mark. Bloody Mary was sheer tomato juice! I was really disappointed.
The fish n chips were too oily to finish in one course!
They do have great serving portions but I didn't quite like the taste of food.
We didn't bother ordering deserts.

Visited Lussmanns (or should that be LUSHmanns?)last night as a long overdue treat to ourselves, and what a treat it was!
Faultless front of house offering a warm welcome.
Fantastic food, we had spiced aubergine on bruschetta & hunters linguine to start, followed by braised ox cheek & shepherds pie with a shared apple crumble to finish, absolutely gorgeous!
The only bad thing was that we realised that perhaps we don’t visit often enough.

Had lunch here to meet family members and the service was excellant and friendly. We had soup and pulled pork starters, then cod cheeks and shepherds pie for mains - all were freshly made and cooked very well

We arranged a lunchtime business blather at Lussmans. Intending to have the lunchtime special. However our very attentive waitress upsold us marvelously. The food was fresh, appetizing and tasty. Of course we had to then imbibe so a delicious white wine was ordered and despatched with collective gusto. Think we may have had another.....
Hertfordshire based, small chain expanding into Oxford. I'm confident Lussmans will add to the already excellent offerings in Oxford.
Good work team Lussmans.

The Lussmans branch in Hertford is our regular haunt, but being en-route home, Hitchin was a minor diversion and the food is always good and the service to a high standard. Our visit here was no exception, it was early in the evening, but all menu options were available and clearly outlined by our very pleasant server whose name I didn't catch (training to be a teacher though). It had been a long drive so after a beer from their very passable local ale selection, I chose the devilled sprats and mayonannise dip as a starter (I normally have the Hunters Liguine) as much for a change and I fancied fish. My wife loves the Halloumi and dip and had that as usual. For my main, I had the hake, with a side of mediterranean vegtables, a great accompanyment. My wife had the steak frites, it wasn't quite cooked enough for her (see said medium - I winced at the time) as I believe her to be a medium/well done steak eater. I'm not a big desert person, but the Grand Marnier creme brulee really is something special. My fish was washed down with a very agreeable glass of NZ Sauvignon. Lussmans add a 12.5% gratuity to the bill, but it' one place you know the service will warrant it, this visit was no exception, it was an excellent meal.
